Modeling is a local trio made up of brothers Connor, Ryan, and Cuinn Brogan. They specialize in indie art-rock. We conducted a three-part interview series, the first one on my show, outliers. This is the second. We met up Friday at FORMAT Festival in anticipation of their Sunday set.
Abby:
Now that you’re here, since you went to FORMAT last year, how does this year feel compare to last year? Is the environment different?
Modeling:
It’s very similar but scaled down to me. They brought back some of the best stages minus the cube. Honestly, the Roadhouse is really cool. Like, the cube was awesome. We all know why, but a roadhouse. I like the darkness. I like it. That’s all covered up. There’s AC. That’s a huge plus. Yeah, it’s just a smaller version to me. I do like I actually really do like it being centralized in Bentonville. Because I’m not much of a camper. I don’t really care for that stuff. So that doesn’t bother me.
Abby:
Follow up from our last interview, you mentioned the bathrooms as a plus with the momentary being the venue, did it live up to your hopes and dreams?
Modeling:
Oh, it is. I’ve used them plenty times. She asked us what we’re excited about the last interview and Ryan said bathrooms. [Talking to each other] You guys weren’t there last year, yeah, they had like the trailer bathrooms, porta potties like that, which were fine.
Abby:
Do y’all have any plans for today? Anything you’re excited for?
Modeling:
Yeah, so we honestly wanted to see some of our friends play we saw The Misdemeanors, we played one show with them. They’re great people, great band. And then we actually missed DJ Afrosia because we got here a little too late. We saw, Pura Coco, that was cool.
Abby:
What are you most looking forward to with the performance later this weekend?
Modeling:
I’m actually just excited to play in the Røde House even though I don’t really get to hear exactly what it sounds like from the stage. I’m just excited to I guess see videos or hear in the soundcheck what our soundsounds like on the stage.
There’s an artist here that was playing that also played last year that I’m going to I want to show them to its name’s Dombrance. He’s a European, sounds like synthwave mixed with French 79. That electronic artist sounds like John Hopkins to us. It’s very European, like electronic music, but he’s like this guy in a suit. And he looks like a nerd. But when he put in his music plays it’s like I don’t know. It was really fun last year, and he was my favorite artists.
