Less than a year after the release of her electrifying debut album, Remi Wolf unveiled six new tracks on Juno (Deluxe) with the same exciting and fun energy I’ve come to expect from her. But while these songs capture Wolf’s musical and production style that’s become undeniably hers, they also bring forward new, slightly more solemn sounds, giving Juno more depth and poignancy lyrically than anything else in Wolf’s discography. The opening track, “Fired,” is the perfect introduction to this slightly more introspective and vulnerable version of Remi we glimpsed in Juno over a year ago now, while tracks like “Liz” and “Street You Live On (Live)” showcase Wolf’s vocals in a way the original album only touched on. Despite this release only providing a few new songs from Wolf, each of them are easily some of the best in her catalogue, and perhaps some should have even been on the original album.
